To submit an alternative response, review the following criteria and select one of the options below. All alternative submissions files should be sent to the Applications Committee by email at
[email protected] by the application deadline: March 22, 2024 @ 11:59 PM. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to send an email to the Applications Committee to seek clarification.
CRITERIA:
- Identify your first and last name, grade and school in your response
- Files should be saved with a file name in the following format: "YOUR FIRST & LAST NAME - MANITOBA ALIVE APPLICATION 2018". For example, "JANE SMITH - MANITOBA ALIVE APPLICATION 2022".
- All 4 response questions must be answered in your alternative response format
- Video and/or audio files should not exceed 5 minutes in length
- Video files should be saved in one of the following formats: .mp4, .mov, .avi, .wmv
- Audio files should be saved in one of the following formats: .mp3, .wav
- Files must be emailed to the Applications Committee by the application deadline (you will receive an email confirming that your file has been received)
- Content must be original and not violate any copyright laws
RESPONSE QUESTIONS:
When responding to the following questions, keep in mind the possible range of experiences that you could draw from. For example, volunteerism includes many aspects such as (but not limited to) coaching, teaching, community work, school clubs, family commitments, etc. When discussing your personal qualities, you may want to consider any family, school, community or extra-curricular experiences that have shaped who you are.
1) Why is volunteering important to you?
2) Explain what personal qualities you exhibit that contribute positively to leadership and volunteer activities. Use a specific example from your personal life to support your answer. E.g. "From my experiences as a volunteer doing... [activity], I have developed... [quality/skill]." and/or "I have spent many years of my life... [situation], and as a result, I learned... [quality/skill]."
3) Please describe the most worthwhile volunteer activity with which you have been involved. Why did you initially become interested in it and what have you learned?
4) Describe a volunteer project/effort that you hope to be involved in during the current or next school year.
